WebsiteBurra was a boom-town in the mid-1800s, thriving on rich copper deposits discovered beneath sheep-grazing land. Feel the area's wealth of history by following a special heritage trail. A "passport" guides you along 11 kilometres of trail past 47 heritage sites, of which eight can be entered using the passport key. Cottages, dingy dug-outs--which once housed over 1,500 people in appalling conditions--the cemetery with its poignant records of hardship, mines and the Unicorn Brewery Cellars give glimpses of the life of a miner in the 1800s. Admission: Adults AUD11; concession AUD9; children free.
