Dotted amongst vineyards and farms are villages that contribute to Clare Valley's cottage charm and great restaurants. Set in the Town Hall, this small information centre will make accommodation and restaurant bookings for you. Ask about cycling and walking trails, not forgetting Spring Gully Conservation Park, with its kangaroos and striking red "stringy bark" gum trees. Nearby Sevenhill Cellars is an historic winery run by Jesuit priests since 1851. It is closed on Sundays but there are 31 other wineries to choose from--known for excellent Shiraz and Rieslings. Historic Martindale Hall was used in filming "Picnic at Hanging Rock."
