Penola concentrates on its heritage. Walking trails will introduce you to the 1850s style cottages in Petticoat Lane and a saint in the making, Mother Mary MacKillop. Geological exploration and gas research are also covered in the historical interpretive center. Ask about fossils and the World Heritage-listed Naracoorte Caves Conservation Park.
