Multi-coloured costumes, the clapping of hands, the stamping of feet and passionate movements are the highlights of the dance form, while the guitar is the instrument of choice for accompanying music. There are shows by notable artists and several workshops are conducted. Competitions too take place in the Festival Flamenco Internacional de Albuquerque.
