Arie Krom himself retired from the business some years ago, but his regime, severe and righteous, still reigns. The jukebox with 50s singles is started by the barmen at fixed times only and is never too loud. Overenthusiastic clients are shown the door in a clear and polished manner. The clientele is of the artistic and literary type, but not too much so. Everyone seems to know everyone else, but outsiders are always welcome.
