The Greeks passion for art and drama, is evident from the crowd that visits the Theater of Dionysus near Acropolis. Built roughly around 450 BC, it is one of the oldest theaters in the world. Capable of seating about 17,000 people, it became the center of a festival called Dionysia, held to honor the Greek god Dionysus. In the earlier days, theatrical competitions used to be held here and people used to shout and judge the best play of that day. Today the place is in ruins and hardly in use but it is easy to imagine the sighte of it 2,000 years ago.
