Adrianou is a pedestrianized street lined with an eclectic array of café-bars and tavernas with a constant flow of human traffic. Yet on the Thissio side, next to the Opera House where Maria Callas once graced the stage, a small and mysteriously modest taverna is clearly visible in the distance. The Good Life Taverna, a cult classic amongst locals, serves up rustic meatballs, village sausages, a myriad of other firm local favorites and possibly the tastiest French fries in Athens. Set against the ruins of Thissio, both ancient and modern, a meal here evokes the true spirit of the area. - Steph Bailey
