Website | EmailAfter a million dollar restoration, the grandeur and opulence of the spectacular Civic features many facets not seen by the public for many years. The theater was built in 1929 with Indian motifs plus stars on the auditorium ceiling reflecting the Southern Hemisphere night sky. There is a grand staircase to the Winter Garden, originally a Continental-style tea garden that was a wartime cabaret. The international-standard lyric theater itself seats 2350 people. Unfortunately the interior is not open purely for viewing - but it is well worth buying a movie ticket so as to get to see it.
