Website | EmailEvery July, the town of Canmore commemorates its coal mining past with a day filled with fun activities. Every year since 1979, when the Canmore Coal Company closed its mine doors, the Canmore Museum hosts this family-friendly event. The festivities include a parade of musicians and mining families through downtown Canmore, performances by local bands, and a free barbecue lunch. There is also a private reception for miners' families. This unique celebration offers visitors a glimpse into local mountain history, and a free lunch to boot.
