Website | EmailFrom July to August, Barbados celebrates the end of the sugar cane harvest. Crop Over fittingly commences with the ceremonial delivery of the last canes to a plantation. Events include Bridgetown Market, showcasing the best of local craft and food, the Pic-O-De-Crop (Calypso) Competition, a folk festival, a fine art exhibition and Cohobblopot, the best mix of the season's music and costumes. The festival closes on Kadooment Day, the first Monday in August, when revelers parade through the streets in costumed bands depicting various themes. A fireworks display ends the day in a kaleidoscope of color.
