This is one of the most anticipated events on the local calendar. Individuals, community groups, company groups, kids and wheelchair participants spend the year getting in shape for this fun event held each year in November. Prizes range from medals for the more serious walkers to special prizes for the craziest costumes or the largest groups. The walk is sponsored by the Nation Publishing Company, publishers of The Nation daily newspaper, and is part of their Healthy Lifestyle community outreach programme.
