Website | EmailTourism is Barbados' principal industry and each year, around the start of the winter season on December 15, Barbados takes time to salute the workers in this industry who have performed beyond the call of duty. The week starts with a church service and a gala presentation at which several categories of workers are awarded prizes. The highlight of the week is the Tourism Day parade, featuring the Royal Barbados Police Force Band, dancers, stiltwalkers, and a motorcade of the Tourism Award winners. Other events include cricket matches, a panel discussion and discounts at tourist attractions. Admission varies by event.
