The Chinese version of Valentine's Day is also called the Night of the Sevens, as it is held on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar year. Festoons are hung outside the houses of singles and newly-married couples. On this day girls pray for good husbands and also flaunt their domestic skills (one of the favorite techniques is displaying their craft in melon carving). As it is a festival showcasing skills it's also called The Festival to Plead for Skills, The Night of Skills, and The Seventh Sister's Birthday. Now that's not too hard to figure out!
