WebsiteJointly organized by the Danish Athletic Federation and Chinese and Danish travel organizations, The Great Wall Marathon is a sporting event unique in all the world. Combining the ultimate physical challenge with a cultural landmark that embodies great human achievement, this grueling course includes four miles (seven kilometers) on the Wall itself. The venue is a relatively undeveloped stretch of the Wall, with 3,700 steps and surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Entries to the race can only be bought as part of a tour package, and spectators must pay the same amount.
