Its seashell shape is inviting and futuristic and can hold a whopping 60,000 spectators. Its special retractable roof has already been put to the test against rain and proved to work perfectly. Another innovation with post-Olympic use in mind is the special turf which is native to cold environments so as to withstand the harsh winters of Northern China.
