One of the first upscale Thai restaurants to open in Beijing, Red Basil has built a considerable following. Elegantly decorated, this large Thai restaurant with wooden floors is located on the Third Ring Road near the Kempinski Hotel. It combines modern style with an oriental touch. The ground floor is spacious with tables spread around the room. The balcony upstairs is slightly more private. The excellent selection of spicy and mild authentic Thai dishes includes Pad Thai, tom kari kai (chicken coconut soup), delicious kai hor bei tuey (chicken wrapped in pandan leaves), braised Thai style pork and several curries.
