Website | EmailThis place has been a Kreuzberg institution for over 100 years, but time seems to have grounded to a halt in about 1970. Nothing has changed here since the legendary years when Kreuzberg was home to the left-wing radical scene and host to many a pitched battle with the police. Yorkschlößchen still attracts plenty of long-haired forty-somethings who enjoy reminiscing about past heroics, but the clientele is, as a whole, fairly mixed and extremely cheerful. Live bands appear here every Sunday afternoon (as well as Wednesday evenings in the summer). The focus seems to be on jazz, blues and country. The menu is comprised of a broad selection of hearty local dishes. Try the home-made Bouletten (meatballs) for a starter; main dishes include Leberkäse (meat loaf) with fried egg and sauteed potatoes. Beer, wine and spirits are also available.
