This quite simply is one of the best French restaurants in town. Within the slightly crumbling red brick walls you find a snug, intimate, old-fashioned place that revels in doing simple things well. All produce is locally sourced, and the bread is baked on the premises. The set menu changes with the seasons, examples of dishes at the time of writing including artichoke and mackerel tart, squid with seafood risotto and fromage blanc mousse. A three course dinner will cost GBP 23.50, two and three course lunches come in at GBP 12.50 and GBP 15.50 respectively.
