A well-regarded, modern Italian restaurant just off New Street, San Carlo boasts an Italian director, Italian management and Italian chefs. The surroundings are bright, with much greenery, but the place is not as spacious as it looks from outside. Dishes include wild boar, pan-fried veal with marsala and spaghetti with crab. When ordering, however, beware any staff in blue shirts: these are managers and some of their customer skills need polishing. The white-shirted waiters are far more affable.
