Website | EmailThe museum was originally built as a Jesuit college. The Jesuits were expelled from Colombia in 1767, and since then the fine colonial building has served many uses as a library, a university, a museum of natural science, and a prison. The museum displays a number of colonial artifacts, books, furniture, carvings, drawings, and paintings. In the old chapel, it is possible to find selected art works by some of the most famous colonial painters, such as Gregorio Vásquez de Arce y Ceballos, Gaspar y Baltazar de Figueroa and Antonio Acero. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.
