West of Palacio Narino, Palacio Echeverry is an example of Bogota architecture dating back to the start of the 20th century. This building, which is now the Home Office headquarters, was built by the French architect Gaston Lelarge, who was also responsible for other buildings in the city center, such as the Capitolio Nacional and the Liévano building. Palacio de Echeverry evokes memories of the 'Belle Epoque', with glass-covered areas, pillars along the hallways and the iron railings along the stairways; all in keeping with this architectural style.
