Australia's most authentic Chinatown is a blaze of sights and sounds every year when this event is celebrated by both the Chinese and non-Chinese communities. Traditional lion dancers, musicians, singers and performers wind their way through the otherwise tranquil garden setting of the Chinatown Mall and Brunswick Street Mall. There is a huge fireworks display and the mall's many fine Chinese restaurants are open to satisfy your stomach. Just remember to book ahead so you will get a place.
