Kooemba Jdarra Indigenous Performing Arts is the most prominent indigenous arts group in Brisbane. Theater productions by Kooemba Jdarra Indigenous Performing Arts often incorporate the use of poetry, song, dance, acting and the art of verbal storytelling, so important to indigenous cultures. The actors in the performances are therefore incredibly versatile and easily change from naturalistic acting styles to song and dance. The works of Jdarra Indigenous Performing Arts are very important in that they deal with issues and themes relevant to the indigenous community and the community as a whole. Most performances are held at the Merivale Street Studio.
