St. Patrick's Day Celebration
Celtic in the Streets
Reconquista Street
(between Tes Sargentos and Paraguay)
Buenos Aires, C1003ABT
Argentina has an important Irish heritage, so when March 17th rolls around, the celebration begins. A number of Masses are held throughout the day in memory of Ireland's patron saint at several of the important churches around the city. When the sun goes down the party atmosphere rises, with over 50000 people dressed in green partying until it’s daylight again, drinking and dancing like there were no tomorrow. Over 10 blocks are closed to traffic, with the main drag being Reconquista, making space for a giant dance floor. The best Irish pubs in the area are Kilkenny and Downtown Matias. Be sure and get there early because the bars situated amongst this block party tend to fill up rather quickly. - Pablo Waldman
