Desfiles Militares en Fechas Patrias
Marching to the Military Beat
Plaza de Mayo
Capital Federal, Buenos Aires 1083
In 1999, a military parade took place after an absence of ten years, with the idea in mind for it to become a tradition for patriotic dates once again. The event re-appeared in the city for the celebration of the 189th anniversary of the Revolución de Mayo (the May Revolution). About 5,000 men belonging to the different forces - the Army, the Navy, the Naval Police Force, the National Gendarmerie, the Air Force and the Federal Police Force - marched past the Casa de Gobierno, witnessed by political authorities and the general public, who saluted the soldiers led by the Cavalry Squadron from the Military Academy.
