WebsiteBuilt in 1580 by Garay, this was the city's first fort. In 1882 after many modifications, an archway was constructed to unite twin structures. Today it is home to the administrative and government seats. The primary entrance is found on Avenida de Mayo. And the pink color paint, ordered by President Sarmiento in 1813, only remains on one side of the building. This building is truly an emblem of the Argentine aristocracies, including those of Peron and his famous wife, Evita.
