Website | EmailBuilt in 1732 by the Recoleto friars, its history is depicted on the majolica at its entrance. Adjacent to the Recoleta cemetery, 19th century colonial architecture predominates throughout. Five pinnacles crown the pilasters of the facade; a square tower and bell-shaped dome uphold the cross; inside, the central nave and two lateral chapels exalt a baroque-Germanic altar and the image of Christ firmly fixed. It was declared a National Historic Monument in 1942 in recognition of its antiquity and prominence.
