Website | EmailThis historic café resides on one of Buenos Aires' most beautiful avenues. Founded in 1858, it boasts the most active cellar in the city with superb tango and jazz shows, live radio broadcasts, conferences and literary events. The second floor is occupied by The National Tango Academy. Gardel and Razzano, two tango superstars, used to stop by the café before their nightly performances. Inside you will find marble and oak tables and columns, bronze statues and chandeliers, walls and panels filled with memorabilia and poems celebrating the rich history of the café. In these posh surroundings, you may enjoy a game of chess, domino, generala (dice game) or even pool when there are no shows in progress. If you are in the mood for a sweet bite, try the house specialty "Chocolate con Churros" and a cup of coffee.
