Website | EmailAn oasis of tranquility in the chaotic heart of Cairo, the Windsor was built at the turn of the century as a bath house for Egyptian royalty. It served as a British officers club for many years before a Swiss hotelier purchased it and converted it into a hotel. The carpets are fraying and wallpaper peeling, but guests rave about its ambiance of faded grandeur. Bogart would have loved it here, and the hotel and its famous Barrel Bar have appeared in many Egyptian and Hollywood films.
