Website | EmailOliver Cromwell (1599-1658) was born in Huntingdon and went on to study at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. He represented Huntingdon in Charles I’s parliament. Cromwell later led the Parliamentarians against the Crown in the English Civil War, becoming Lord Protector (Head of State) after victory. Cromwell first studied at Huntingdon Grammar School, now the Cromwell Museum. Displays explaining his life and legacy stand alongside possessions, portraits and contemporary objects. Samuel Pepys, the famed diarist who studied at Magdalene College, Cambridge, also went to school here.
