WebsiteThis memorial was unveiled by Sir Ninian Stephens (former Governor General of Australia) in 1983, and is dedicated to all those who fought in the siege of Tobruk in 1941. A giant, glimmering bronze flame set between battlement-shaped stones, the memorial represents defensive soldiers set up against the enemy, along the coastline at Tobruk. A time capsule was laid in 1991 at the foot of the memorial to mark the 50th anniversary of the siege of Tobruk.
