Website | EmailThis memorial was erected to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Air Force, and honours the men and women of the Flying Corps and Air Force, and those who died for their country. The memorial was designed by sculptor Inge King and comprises of three polished steel "wings", which reach towards the sky. These wings represent strength and courage. A geometric bronze sculpture, set between the wings, symbolises flight, and man's struggle to conquer the elements. Unveiled by His Royal Highness Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, on March 15, 1973.
