WebsiteMany people do not know that Australia produces high quality sapphires or that sapphires were mined in this small village known more for its gold. Although not much gold is left, keen "fossickers" still try their luck under the Sapphire Bridge. Located near the abundant feeder streams of the Lachlan River and hugging the crest of the Great Dividing Range, Grabben Gullen (an Aboriginal phrase meaning "small waters") is a haven for bird life. Popular with bird watching groups and history buffs, Grabben Gullen today comprises a few houses and a hotel famous for its hospitality.
