WebsiteBatemans Bay and its neighbouring area boast some of the most spectacular and unspoiled coastline in New South Wales. The township is located at the mouth of the Clyde River. The bay was named in 1770 on Captain Cook's discovery voyage, but the township was not settled until well into the 19th Century. While the town is large and has all facilities, it retains a small town feel. There are dozens of things to do. Gentle sea bathing, surfing the beaches, boating, diving, sailboarding and fishing, as well as bushwalking and encounters with wildlife from wallabies to sea eagles! Two hours drive east from Canberra along Kings Highway.
