WebsiteKirstenbosch nestles at the foot of the easternmost slopes of Table Mountain. Its National Botanical Garden includes a conservatory, a cultivated garden ideal for tranquil walking or picnicking and a mountainous nature reserve offering challenging day hikes for the energetically inclined. During the summer months, Kirstenbosch throws open its gates to welcome music-lovers. Performances (by acts as notable as the Three Tenors and Il Divo) are held at sunset on Sunday evenings and couples and families gather at dusk to listen to music under the stars. Most guests bring a picnic and some good Cape wine to enhance the experience. Sundays at the garden also bring a craft market at the nearby Stone Cottages, so if you arrive early you can shop before the concert begins.
