Cape Town Pride Parade
Procession promoting tolerance
Parade starts at Somerset Road at Buitengracht Street
Cape Town, 7700
Now in its second year, the Cape Town Pride Parade brings gays, lesbians, and their friends together for a march of solidarity. With a motto of "Unity Through Diversity," parade organizers hope to promote tolerance of all people. Thousands are expected to gather for the parade, which will feature floats, costumes and live music. In past years, demonstrators gathered along the route to display signs of protest. Still, the march was orderly, and organizers also expect this year’s event to be a peaceful affair. After-parties follow at various clubs in Green Point. Johannesburg’s pride parade, is an even larger gathering.
