Website | EmailIn 1881 Stephanus Petrus Lategan came to the Constantia Valley and bought a considerable piece of Buitenverwachting farmland from Johannes Louw. Later, Lategan acquired Buitenverwachting itself, as well as enough of the surrounding land to give each of his four sons farms of their own. Constantia Uitsig, which went to Willem Hendrik, was the only one of the four farms that lacked an imposing homestead and was still only open veld. Soon, Willem turned his land into a model farm and in 1896, became the first South African farmer to export his table grapes to London. In 1988 David McCay, and his wife Marlene purchased the farm. Together they have restored it to its former glory. In keeping with its rich heritage, the estate produces some of the finest wines the country has to offer. You can experience the history and tradition of Constantia Uitsig at the exquisite French restaurant La Colombe, whilst enjoying panoramic views.
