This estate, the oldest in the country, was developed by Governor Simon van der Stel who received it as a gift in 1685. Since then, Groot Constantia has an uninterrupted record as a wine farm and its name is irrevocably linked to the most famous wines ever made in South Africa. Groot Constantia produces a range of award winning wines, excelling in reds as well as whites. The Estate offers wine tasting and sales, a museum in the magnificent manor house, a beautiful historic cellar with a sculptured pediment gable, an art gallery, two gift shops and two superb restaurants.
