A visit to Jacaranda, the smallest wine estate in the Cape, is a must if you are looking for something different. The circular area around the irrigation reservoir has been transformed into an ingenious little cellar with a cosy tasting room. Visitors are welcomed with a personally guided tour before tasting the interesting selection of Chenin Blancs. Tasty olives accompany the tastings and are available for sale, together with delicious cottage cheese. These come, respectively, from one old olive tree and the pet Jersey cow, Boopsey Daisy. This charming little estate is situated just three kilometres north of Wellington. When visiting, it is best to phone ahead, especially when there is snow on the mountains.
