Originally known as Bellinchamp (pretty field), the land was granted to Gerrit Janz van Vuuren in 1693. Some 250 years later Bellingham acquired another pioneer when self-taught winemaker Bernard Podlashuk bought the farm, upgraded the vineyards and planted new cultivators, producing South Africa's first Rose, Schiraz and Premier Grand Cru. In the new cellar complex, wines from light whites to more complex, full-bodied reds, are produced. Tasty light lunches are served during December and January, under the stately oak trees that grace the lovely Bellingham estate.
