Website | EmailBoschendal, situated near Franschhoek, is one of the oldest estates in South Africa, having been established as 'Bossendaal' by Huguenot Jean le Long in 1685. Today, Boschendal forms part of the Anglo-American Farms and comprises a total of 3500 hectares. Of this, 491 hectares - extending along the cool, east-facing slopes of the Simonsberg Mountians - are under vine. The Boschendal restaurant complex is a showcase for their wines. Wander through the perfectly restored Cape Dutch Manor House (declared a national monument) before indulging in an internationally acclaimed buffet lunch, or wend your way through the oaks to Le Cafe which serves light lunches and teas. During the summer months, Le Pique-Nique offers wicker hampers filled with delectable fresh farm fare. The Taphuis offers conducted tastings throughout the year and vineyard tours during summer.
