WebsiteEvery January 25, Scots the world over congregate to celebrate their legendary Bard, Robert Burns. The usually raucous evening consists of the arrival of the traditional haggis to the sound of bagpipes (if you're lucky), then mass consumption of said haggis along with turnips (neeps) and potatoes (tatties). Much whiskey is downed and extracts of Burns text are read aloud. Edinburgh's Burns Suppers take place in various places: in private homes, Burns associations, and in public places like restaurants and hotels.
