First performed in 1950, it is a splendid mix of pomp, pageantry, music, ceremony, entertainment and drama, all set against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle during the festival. Although the central appeal still remains the stirring sight and sound of the massed pipes and drums of the Scottish regiments, the event has an international flavour with performers invited from all over the world. Tickets range from GBP9-GBP25, depending upon seating.
