The district of Höchst has hosted the famous Schlossfest ('Castle Festival') since 1957. The festival is an extravaganza of music, theater, comedy, art and sport, with the highlights being the street parade, the old town festival (Altstadtfest) and the riverside celebrations (Kirmes am Mainufer). A huge firework display on the final evening sees the festival finish with a bang.
