WebsiteIn August over 200 pipe bands from a variety of countries congregate on Glasgow Green to battle it out in this annual contest, the biggest pipe event in the world. Spectators will hear the contestants long before they see them. The championships take place in six arenas throughout the park, and if you feel a headache coming on, you can always beat a hasty retreat to the Winter Gardens and People's Palace, both of which are open on the day. There's also a craft fair and beer tent. This is a colourful and fun day out, even if you're not a fan of bagpipes, the sight of 200 bands decked out in full highland regalia is not to be missed.
