Website | EmailAs its name suggests, this is the upstairs bar bistro at the highly acclaimed Ubiquitous Chip restaurant. A popular haunt for mature students, arty folk and the BBC media crowd, it has a long bar, a peat fire (in season), wooden rafters and walls of painted brick, or you can sit in the airy balcony overlooking the main restaurant and study the mural by Alasdair Gray. A good selection of malts, ales and wines is available and the daily changing menu features traditional Scottish delights such as haggis and neeps, and Loch Fyne herrings. It's all a wee bit more expensive than usual bar food, but well worth it and still a lot cheaper than eating downstairs. Food is served midday-11pm Monday-Saturday and 12.30pm-11pm on Sundays.
