The Buttery has genuine old-fashioned charm. A meal here is like stepping back in time, from the waitresses dressed all in black to the lush red upholstery and country lodge decor. It is housed in the ground floor of an old Victorian tenement, so there is a definite historic feel to the place. The contemporary Scottish food is consistently excellent and this is confirmed by the many awards bestowed, including Highland Spring Restaurant of the Year in 1998. A three course set lunch with coffee can be enjoyed for less than £20 but if you're dining a la carte choose the fantastic sample everything dessert platter.
