All that remains of the music lessons that used to go on here is the sound of Noel Coward over the sound system. These days, the grand but welcoming Edwardian Academy is home to fine cooking that combines classic ingredients (game, seafood, steak) with a contemporary approach. The four-course set menu boasts, amongst other delightful starters, Szechuan aubergine rolls with scallops and papaya. Main courses include snipe with apricot and sage mousse. Puddings are superb - a banana parfait with pecan nut and toffee syrup is piled in a sweet tower on the plate. A recent innovation is the grill menu - pick a base of any cut of meat or vegetarian creation, then choose which sauce or spices you'd like it cooked with.
