WebsiteAlthough Carnival festivities take place throughout Gran Canaria in mid to late Winter, there are more events in the capital than elsewhere. For three weeks, the daily routine slows down and the mogollones (popular fiestas in Santa Catalina Park) set a different pace. There are fancy-dress parties in nearly all parts of the city, competitions to choose the craziest drag queen, a spectacular televised gala to choose the Carnival Queen, street bands, and mounted processions, attracting thousands of visitors and national celebrities.
