Las Palmas de Gran Canaria really needed a place like this, and there is no doubt that Miau (Meow) was one of the fore-runners of the Drag Queen movement on the island. This movement became a real institution with the election of THE Drag Queen during the annual Carnival celebrations. Miau opened its doors in 1998 and what really stands out here, apart from the chique interior decoration, are the drag shows and their Carnival parties. The atmosphere here is really nice, despite the overflow of madness, imagination and fun. The disco is popular with the gay community, though not exclusively, and the parties attract a wide mix of people.
